On some Acer laptop and netbook WiFi get turned on at during windows startup even it’s turned off during last shutdown.
This days most people prefers to keep wifi connected always. Unlike older models newer models doesn’t comes with a physical switch to turn on/off wireless devices. But wireless draws some battery power.
I don’t like to keep wifi On my Acer Aspire D270 netbook when I don’t need it, so I was searching forum and blog posts to prevent wifi turned on at startup. Found many people also want to keep their wifi off and many want to keep their wifi on. I didn’t found something useful through search. so I looked wifi driver and Dritek LaunchManager configuration myself.
Dritek LaunchManager manages wireless, Bluetooth and special function keys in most Acer laptops and netbooks, at least on my AOD270. As this days internet means wifi, LaunchManager developer thought to keep wireless on always. I’m using Dritek LaunchManager 18.104.22.1688, found a registry entry in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Dritek\LManager\Settings\Wireless LAN > Wireless LAN Always On = 1. set this value to 0 and reboot. it worked for me as I wanted.
Hoping someone might find this tweak useful. 🙂
